On one estimation method for acoustic noise generated by liquid flow in elastic pipe with a stenosis

Acoustic bulletin, Vol. 1 ¹ 1, (1998) p.10-16
The paper deals with the experimental method of estimation of acoustic noise generated by fluid flow in an elastic pipe with stenosis. A design is proposed for measurement chamber providing the significant reduction of distortions of statistical characteristics of the recorded noise due to parasitic vibrations of the chamber and resonances of fluid volume inside it. A principal possibility is shown for calculation of vibrations of the elastic pipe wall using the experimental data concerning the acoustic noise. A benchmark implementing the offered method has been assembled and its efficiency confirmed. In particular, it is shown that in pari causa the level of the acoustic noise generated by a turbulized flow in the presence of a stenosis is much higher than that of the boundary layer in the pipe without a stenosis.
